Caulerpa Taxifolia can be easily found on the hulls of ships with ultra-violet light and even the naked eye. Any piece big enough to start any kind of formation is easily seen without the aid of enhanced scanners.
Since it is still just a plant, it can be killed with certain chemical agents. It is suggested that approved chemical agents be saturated onto the hull of the vessel and then scrubbed immediately. This has shown to be foolproof in killing the algae off of European ships in their screening project.
European nations have deployed screening and elimination methods to better control the CT invasion. So far, it has been shown to be near 100% effective in keeping the spread of CT by fragmentation and ship transport to nothing. Their methods include scanning for the Caulerpa plant and saturating the found alien with a chemical acid, after which scraping of the hull with a coarse brush commences. This method has been very effective and so far no new invasions have occured in the Euro area.
